Abstract
Monoclonal antibodies were used to trap particles of turnip mosaic virus (TuMV) strains in immunosorbent electron microscopy (ISEM). After treatments of MAbs, 1A3.7 and 2B4.6, which can only decorate TuMV-C1 and TuMV-C2, C3, C4, respectively, no heterologous decoration was found. Pretreatment of MAbs on the grids greatly increased the number of homologous particles trapped, whereas, that of heterologous particles dramatically decreased. The plant sap inhibited the virus trapping on buffer-treated grids, but not on MAb-treated ones.
